All teens under
the age of 18 are required to attend 30 hours of classroom training before
they are able to take the permit test. In order to qualify for the permit
test, the State requires that you are at least 15 years of age and enrolled
in a behind-the-wheel training course.
Classroom Training
We offer a very
flexible 30-hour classroom schedule that allows the student to start during
any lesson. These lessons run Monday through Thursday and last for three
hours. Students must complete each individual lesson in order to complete
the required thirty hours. During this time, the students will fill out
worksheets, which ensures they read the state driving manual. They are also
given quizzes on various areas and will take some permit pre-tests to help
prepare them for the permit test at the State testing center. We also have a
supplemental book that the students will work on which exposes them to even
more information.
Upon completion
of the classroom portion, if the student is enrolled in behind the wheel with us,
they are given their blue card (see blue
card info page) and may take the permit test at any of
the State testing facilities. As of July 15, 2005, permits are good for two
years from date of issue. Obtaining the permit is the responsibility of the
student and their parent/guardian.
If the student
wishes to complete their training with
another school, they are given a certificate of completion. This must be
taken to the other driving school to show proof of classroom completion.
Behind the Wheel Training
Our behind the
wheel program consists of three lessons, two hours each. We include free
pickup/drop-off in the local area. If the student is outside our pickup/drop-off
area, we can meet at several different locations to help make it easier on
the student and/or parents. Lessons available Monday-Sunday,
8:00am to 8:00pm.
Over the course
of their six hours with us, the student will receive a great deal of
instruction. Here is a list of some of the things covered:

We maintain a
one-on-one ratio with each student to provide the best teaching and training
atmosphere. This allows our instructor to individualize the lesson to each
student based upon how they are doing.
Upon completion
of the six hours of training, the stude nt
is given a “white card.” This is required by the State to show completion of
behind the wheel training.
When the student is at least 16 years of age, the road test may be taken at
any of the State test centers.
